I find it amusing that Robert is pretending he can’t read between the lines. I know he’s smarter than that. He can’t even address the issue but chooses to go on the attack. It’s that attitude that breeds resistance in the gun rights crowd. Maybe he was just offended by the Nazi reference. That’s rich.

The concessions I’ve voiced are huge. I don’t think he’s even read them. Blinded by something. Makes you wonder just who the real “fanatics” are.

I have no objection to my background info being transferred from state records to the background check system. That which is public record should be available to the process. I see no way it could be used for more than what is intended.

Also, “addressing the legal barriers” takes a lot of punch out of it if there are serious privacy issues.

Does not require that patients provide any info. I would decline to answer any such questions from my Doc, or I might lie.

Much of it is sheer gas, like issuing presidential instructions for law enforcement and others to do things they routinely do anyway.

“I hereby instruct firemen to put out fires. Look, I’m the anti-arson president!”

The database instructions are about tracking everybody, not just the mentally ill.

Step back and look at this from a distance. Remember the statistics on crimes, guns used, and gun access by criminals. These new proposals are not about criminals. Gun control never has been.

A subtext in the whole debate about gun violence is that gun owners like you represent themselves as the kind of level-headed sensible people I should trust with a gun. Yet you’re constantly going off on extremist rants about Nazi doctors and mainstream media conspiracies and conspiracies to confiscate your guns. I am not at all reassured about you self-styled “good guys with guns”. Seems to me that fanatic gun owners are a compelling argument for gun control.
