There is no limit...err...ceiling. If only I had more money I could make this country great.

Meanwhile don't worry about the lack of jobs and being downgraded from the middle class bracket, it's just a name and before you know it, the minority. Unemployment for as long as it takes, food stamps for everybody, got some kids, we can get you welfare, no kids, well that disability thing sure is growing. Just give us a call and if you don't have a phone, well we can take of that too.

There is no means to our end..uh...end to our means...uh... well trust me.

Funny how the article points out that 66% think the high deficit is a major concern. Didn't realize the GOP had that much influence of late.
The second paragraph claiming that heath care reform was going to reduce health care and still will shows how off base their claims are and doesn't warrant trusting the rest of their conclusions. Come on even Obama has come to the conclusion that it won't be cheaper, not to mention the Politico, the CBO & GAO. Every nonprofit health care provider has had to raise their premiums because of Obama Care with some rates increasing 3 times more than average years before it was implemented.

To think that the current government is going to be somehow be fiscal sound by eliminating the debt ceiling or even raising it without some budget cuts is foolish. After all Obama and the Senate haven't produced a budget for going on 4 years now so they could spend as much as possible without concern for the consequences of having to raise the debt ceiling. Just blame it all on the GOP making it a political issue when in fact it is a financial concern that even the CBO says should be reined in with offsets in cuts.

What threats are there to the US that warrant 18% of the federal budget? Who can do that much damage to us? So most of that 18% is wasted.

Y'know, the sooner we stop killing Muslims the sooner we'll stop making more enemies. We can't kill them all, and we can't kill them faster than they procreate, so it's another losing battle.

<p>P.S.</p>

Note that if you subtracted the entire military budget, scrapped all the programs, dumped the personnel and troops, shut down overseas operations, fired the civilian employees, and cancelled all the contracts, the budget for 2013 would still be over $200 billion in the hole.

The 2013 deficit (at last prediction) will be slightly smaller than the size of that pie piece for Medicare & Health on that chart.

<p>I realized what the knee-jerk response would be.</p>

<img src="http://nationalpriorities.org/media/uploads/federal_budget_101/Figure8.2.png" width="400" />

Add up percentages for defense and veterans benefits. Then add up health care, entitlements, education, housing, unemployment, and other wealth redistribution. You know, social spending.

Let me know what you get.

It was Cheney who defined the Republican stance on the deficit, that it didn't matter.

However, a good, quick test as to Republican sincerity is the military budget. When they are willing to put that on the table I will believe they may be willing to do something about wasteful, optional spending which yields no dividends.

And they aren't. While the US is marauding through Muslim countries, creating enemies faster than Muslims are being born, losing wars, flying 200 million dollar airplanes the Republicans want to cut social programs.

There is something wrong there.

I believe welfare should be overhauled, and able-bodied people be required to perform some sort of public service besides cranking out babies. It is bloated, too, but the entire burden of lowering the deficit should not be placed on the backs of the poor. There's something morally wrong about that.
