This “not enough funding” lie is intended to drive the hearings toward one specific conclusion: That more money to the government will fix things.

I covered this once in a post in November when the Democrats tried the same excuse. Here it is again:

In the investigation going on, when Charlene Lamb asked if budget issues were the problem for embassy security, the answer was “no.”

And not to put too fine a point on it, “proposed budgets” would have very little effect on the funding available to the State Department prior to September 11 of this year.

Obama’s budget was dead on arrival in the Democratic Senate, which has generated no budget of its own for over three years. The Republican budget out of the House was also killed by the Senate. We are running on continuing resolutions.

The fiscal year 2011 State Department budget was $46.3 billion. Estimated 2012 budget is about $50.8 billion. They want $51.6 billion in 2013. If you look at the State Department’s request document, page 37, they’re actually asking for a cut in 2013 for embassy security funds. They also detail where the money was supposed to go.

First off the bill was not only for security, but also for construction and maintenance. Obama wanted $1.801 billion, the House offered $1.425 billion, then it went to the Senate and they decided on $1.537 billion. Funny how the GOP gets the blame when they don’t even have a majority in the Senate and the democrats reduce the budget as well.

It’s all moot anyway as they had all the money they needed to beef up security in Libya. Hilary just admitted she didn’t know about the request for more security along with not reading all the cables that come in so what difference would it have made. I guess Hilary and Holder have something in common.

What’s amazing is how Hilary contradicts Susan Rice and Obama with regards to who knew what and when but that won’t make the headlines.
