I love geology. In college I took Geo 101- “Rocks for Jocks”. I learned about “mass wasting” and see it in my work often.

On road trips when the wife is driving, I’m fixated on the geology of western Washington and Oregon. I’d happily pay to go on a guided field trip through the area.

We are fortunate to have Podrock. I wish Nick was still around too.

There’s what seems to be an igneous rock in the center, sedimentary rocks around it, some weathered rocks and some with sharp edges not exposed to much weathering. Clearly a windy area, as some areas are swept clean of dust, but then some areas aren’t.

The finger looks to be “underweathered”, or a layer with the supporting material eroded away, but it doesn’t seem to have been much of a layer with that being the only remnant.

I wish I knew something about geology.
