All the world's a plot, and we but victims in it."
I heard that from a friend, a Ph. D. in Psychology who eventually blew his brains out. And he had a lot of 'em.

However, being smart is like having a Lamborghini or Ferrari - very nice but if the driver is nuts - - - .

Made it to Rolphton, Ontario, spent the night in a motel for a good shower and to clean out the rig, add a fitting to the propane system and take a real shower. It snowed. Stayed the day and will stay tonight. Took a while to find some parts for the propane system, I left 'em home, but got that running right for the first time. I leave the furnace on all night so it doesn't freeze up.
Meet a lot of interesting people. At 72 if someone makes a comment to me, I can follow it up and invite myself to sit with them. Everyone has 4 or 5 books in them and I enjoy BSing with them, finding out how they found their way to whatever Godforsaken place it is and what keeps them there. Most were born here and inherited farms, some are government employees. Hot topic is that the Canadian government is swapping some prime land to the First Nations in exchange for the marshes and rockpiles to which they were banished when the White Man moved in with repeating rifles and smallpox.
There is a large network of groomed snowmobile trails, met a couple of guys who had ridden 360 kms. yesterday to stay at the same motel. They get about the same gas mileage as the van.
Looking forward to heading south tomorrow, and maybe in the next few days the van can thaw out. I'll see what damage is none and hopefully wash off the salt. Lots of salt!
Not very exciting, but that's it. A comfortable, relaxed night and day.
I trust all is well with the HZ.

I drive our Sprinter cross country and side winds can be a problem, although I think the Sprinter has a more robust suspension than an RV.

Last trip from the Midwest, worst winds I hit, ironically, were when we were almost home in that lonely stretch of 680 between 80 and the Bay. Haven't had to deal with snow and ice...I plan midwestern travel when winter is safely in the Southern Hemisphere.

It takes time to adapt to a cross-country vehicle, but eventually your hand will automatically find the places you put things.

When you get to my age...

You become very aware that the universe is out to kill you. I try not to cut it any slack.

Riding a motorcycle is handing the universe a Free Space. Just my opinion, of course.

I find it easier to cope with some "situations" by noting I'm warm and dry- if that's actually the case. It's the old "things could be worse" attitude.

I went to Wenatchee yesterday to pick up a classic '84 Honda Interceptor motorcycle. I've always wanted one ever since they came out.

Stevens pass was wet, 39 degrees and raining but just over the past there was broken clouds and sunshine. I was half-seriously considering riding it back. I wasn't prepared to do so but thought I might buy some cheap ski bibs and go for it.

Coming back to the pass, the rain had turn to a driving, almost white-out snow storm. Gusts to about 50. Only 2 inches of wet snow on the road but I still wondered if I should put the S-10 in 4wd.

I was thankful of my ability to suppress the 16 year-old kid that lurks inside.
