So the alternative is to prevent people from voting for the other side, right? Face it TB, not only did it not work, your goons got caught red-handed trying to sneak it past the rest of us. Next time, as the GOP constituency continues to shrink, its going to be even harder to pull off, not to mention harder to make excuses for.

Election fraud is a problem in any democracy, and in every party. Democrats do it as well as Republicans. But in the past, it was always a local problem, a criminal act by crooked individuals or a racist plot by bigots. The modern GOP has institutionalized it, turned it into nationwide policy in every state where they have been able to assemble a gerrymandered pseudo-majority. The contempt they have for our country and its principles is no longer a secret.

Now we have early voting, online registration, and countless other ways to make it easy to vote. The average early voting start time in the 32 states that have it is 22 days before the election, with an average duration of 19 days. Three weeks to vote.

This is nuts. If the bar for registering and voting in this country was any lower, a department story dummy could manage it.

The question that comes to my mind: what’s happening to a political process that desperately needs large numbers of uninformed, unaware, and apathetic voters?

It’s like having labeling laws for medicine, and the manufacturers start frantically looking for illiterate customers. What conclusions do you draw about the product?
