This is my ranking, from strongest to weakest. I have left out Taft, Wilson, Harding and Coolidge because I don’t know enough about their administrations to properly evaluate them. My ranking is based on soundness of ideology (what they wanted to do) and effectiveness in carrying out their programs (how well they actually did). This list corresponds to what I believe are their relative value to the nation and history. I realize the criteria are not fair, because their terms were not of the same length, and they faced very differnt challenges and opportunities. But life isn’t fair, is it? Some of the adjoining choices were real close, I could just have easily gone the other way.
