That's the "answer" you got to your simple and telling statement: that the scandal was what the IRS actually did.

The Democrats and their allies are trying to sell us "No Obama, No Foul." Their mindless constituents will buy it.

The IRS sabotaged Democratic political opponents prior to a major election.

You're told to ignore the non-Obama Washington connections, the spread of the scandal far beyond Cincinnati, Lerner taking the Fifth, and the implications of inherent political bias in an organization as powerful as the IRS.

You're watching the usual gangs of media and other idiots spewing squid ink by the barrel. Stay focused on the facts.

He makes it a point to deliberately leak highly edited testimony that supports his agenda, that Obama is a socialist tyrant that needs to be impeached, while carefully redacting all testimony that suggests the opposite. And when the full and complete transcript is published against his hysterical objections, exposing him for the lying fascist turd he really is, he gets all huffy and self-righteous about it. It really breaks my heart.

This desperation to hang something, anything, on Obama is not only comically self-evident to anyone objectively viewing Conservate fibrillations, but it is actually counter-productive to whatever might be of legitimate value to their cause. (I certainly make no claim Liberal Democrats are free from sin.) If there ever was anything to Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the AP wiretaps, the IRS scandals, and now the Puzzle Palace kerfuffle, then it has been pretty much forgotten and obscured by the way overzealous Republican witch hunts have over-reached their mandate and botched the investigations and discredited themselves with disgraceful excess.

What is it with the Right and Obama, anyway? I would like to be charitable and think it is not just good old-fashioned American racism, because Obama Derangement Syndrome seems to be shared by black and brown conservatives too. It finally occurred to me what it is.

As the nation changes economically, racially, ethnically, and demographically and its settlement patterns become progressively more urbanized, the old Nixonian Southern Strategy coalition of rural, working class conservative White Anglo Saxon Protestants is starting to unravel.

The "Average American" is no longer a descendant of Northern Europeans living in the country. The nation is not white and rural any more, although rural whites seem to have convinced themselves it still is. (It's why they are always whining about "getting their country back.")

Well, it's not "their country". In fact, it never was. They were just the preceding wave of immigration.
The Real American didn't come over on the Mayflower, he came over on a steam ship, or a slave ship, or a jet airliner. And he came to work for the Americans who were already here who were either to lazy to pick their own cotton or too cheap to hire their fellow countrymen to do it.

Real Americans are browner, they are more likely to come from Asia, Latin America, or Southern or Eastern Europe. They are Jewish and Catholic and Muslim,or they don't believe at all, not Fundamentalist Protestant. This is the new majority now, the REAL America. And don't blame them for being here, they were invited here as a source of cheap, docile exploitable labor. Those who find their presence uncomfortable have no one to blame but themselves and their ancestors.

No I don't think Conservatives are necessarily racist. But since the days of Civil Rights and the rise of Richard Nixon, the Right has relied more and more on the rural working class racist WASPs of the deep south and far west. And that population is now shrinking--or growing up with a proper education. And the Republican Establishment has lost control of this redneck constituency. It serves them right. "When you sleep with whores, you wake with the pox."

The only solidly and uniformly Republican constituency still left is this rural, working class white one, and they are the ones with the fire and passion. They have been used and sold a bill of goods by their own Party, and they are pissed. But they are no longer a majority. The other branches of the GOP, the Libertarian loonies, the Daddy Warbucks Establishment, and the dwindling remnants of the socially responsible and basically decent moderate and centrist GOP, have created a Frankenstein.

So the Issas and Cruzes on the right keep on trying to feed this beast, keep it happy, and further driving a wedge into the Party of Lincoln, eventually turning it into a regional and rural sect of gibbering sub-literate fanatics. What makes them think they can still control them?
