then when the Chinese were brought in to build the railroads, and now with the Mexicans who came to pick fruit.

We bring them in, exploit them economically, and then tell them to leave when they are no longer useful as captive labor. But they keep coming in because there are always jobs for them, and just enough immigration hassle to keep 'em quite and not cause too much trouble for the boss. You can even get the State to provide them with welfare services so you can pay them even less.

I think you're going to start seeing it pretty soon with "STEM" workers. US engineers and techs will be competing for jobs with Asians and Indians who will be welcomed with open arms because "Americans can't, or don't want, to do the work". US techs won't be able to train for this work the way college tuitions are soaring, and these overseas people have been educated AT PUBLIC EXPENSE in their own countries to do jobs that Americans have to borrow heavily here to train for.

Meanwhile, the underemployed American worker is fanned into nativist fury by the masterminds of this scheme--setting one class of workers against another and distracting them from who the real villains are. "Divide and Conquer". Its the oldest tactic in the book.

Jeb Bush just about admitted it at that last Conservative love-in, when he said the Latins were "fertile" and would provide us with enough new population to pay into our entitlement programs and keep them solvent.

Its not naiveté, its hypocrisy.

Their presence depresses wages for everyone. Who benefits from that?

Do you think the Republicans aren't in favor of having these people in the US. Are you that naive? Are you so biased you can't see the Republican complicity in the illegal immigrant situation?

If the Democrats AND Republicans wanted to they could solve this problem. No one wants to do that.

It would be incorrect to characterize Conservatives as mostly racist. But it is fair to say most racists are Conservative.

Republicans could care less that Obama is black. What terrifies them is that in the last two Presidential elections a majority of American voters really didn't care that he was.

It's not so much that they've changed their minds, as much as they are no longer as scared of reprisals from the base.

It was not about a split that I posted. It was because Graham concisely made the point that I tried to make in this thread.

After they're done in Washington, they won't be "illegal" any more.

This is about constructing a few million shiny new Democratic voters in key states. I thought the maps made it obvious what the main target is. Go to that electoral map, paint Texas blue, then count the red electoral votes.

The current federal requirement for voter registration is that you simply state you're a citizen.
It's an "honor system"
