In 1994 I had pancreatitis. Afterward they went down and looked at the pancreas, and along the way found a polyp. It was pre-cancerous, but had it not been found I would have died about the time my sister did, 2000.

Doc said that the pancreatitis was the body’s way of saying “Hey, come look here!!”

A friend of mine was hit while ridding his motorcycle. He was taken to the hospital and found out the accident saved his life. The doctors found an aneurysm that was going to burst at any moment.

That was 15 years ago and he now enjoys good health.

Carotid blockage is serious, AND if you catch it people report feeling much, much better after the surgery. I wish you the very best, and hope you come out of it far better than you went in.

Glad they found it. Life’s little accidents can be beneficial as well as bad.

but you should travel the desert at night, and rest during the day. Death Valley is rough. My wife and I rescued a car that had run out of gas there when we crossed the Panamint Range.

So you do your best and takes yer chances on what you feel up to doing.

While I am not likely to have done it alone, I would have felt fine to take a trip like yours. Guess what, I was just diagnosed with some serious carotid blockage and I will need some fairly safe surgery to correct it. I had no idea, felt fine, they found it on a neck x-ray looking for a disk problem I incurred doing younger man stuff.

If I had tried a trip like yours it very well might have killed me in that heat.

The lowest place in the US, Death Valley, hottest temp, too, if I recall. And you are there at midsummer? Humidity was what, nothing? Less than nothing? Anti-humidity, that’s what’s there, you don’t need that shit. It sucks one dry. I know. Unless you’re wearing a kick ass stillsuit, stay the hell outta there this side of the equinoxes.
