In my State if one is off in the woods with their dog running loose, anyone with a gun can shoot it and claim the dog attacked them. Even if it ran up wagging it’s tail, even if it were rolled over wanting it’s belly scratched, even if it were 50 feet away and moving away. Even if they were just passing each other on the trail. If the person wanted to shoot something the dog is fair game. ”It was attacking me.”
In Florida, if two people, human beings, Homo Sapiens Sapiens, meet in an isolated area, or out of sight of anyone else, one can shoot the other, kill them, and claim they were being attacked. That’s as I understand it.
Just blow them away. For the hell of it. ”I was being attacked, stood my ground.” Clears the way for stalkers, thrill killers, gang-bangers, anyone in a foul mood. ”I just stood my ground.”
Sometimes, quite often, one wishes the Civil War had turned out differently.
