THe ancient Hebrews probably didn't use a euphemism.

The English speaking races are such flaming prudes. But when an Israelite went into battle, he "girded his loins", wrapped a cloth around his balls so an enemy could not make a painful and disabling grab at them.

Sometimes I wonder if the current religious reluctance to use rough language is more a function of contemporary sensibility than of Scriptural admonition. Nowhere in either Testament is there any proscription of so-called "foul language".

1 Samuel 25:22
So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.

1 Samuel 25:34
For in very deed, as the Lord God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.

1 Kings 14:10
Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

1 Kings 16:11
And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.

1 Kings 21:21
Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

2 Kings 9:8
For the whole house of Ahab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel:

There's a time and a place for everything, and grabbing a guy's nuts while he's in a fight isn't erotic. Clearly she should wait until sometime after the fight when they are alone.

I agree. Hers in inappropriate behavior. As the Bible says, there is a time for everything, and that ain't it.

I had a little fun comparing translations of that passage. A lot of the translations are like this one (Names of God Bible) in trying to clarify that point:

11 This is what you must do when two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from the man who is beating him. If she tries to stop the fight by grabbing the other man’s genitals, 12 cut off her hand. Have no pity on her.

What was even more fun was seeing all the euphemisms for That Which is Grabbed: "his secrets", "his secret parts", "his privates", "sex organs", "genitals", "privities" (1599), "sex part", "privy members".

Not to mention the verbs: "seize", "seizing", "grabbing", "grabbing hold", "take hold", "laid hold".

But the meaning of one thing was never unclear, though the words varied: "show her no mercy; cut off her hand" (Good News Translation [ironic, isn't it?]).

I just can't wait for the restoration of a America as a Christian Nation!
