It’s been a good day today. My doctor took my EKG and I passed with flying colors, I’ve lost six pounds since my last visit, and when I got home the contractor was putting the finishing touches on my remodeled new master bathroom. It is glorious, it looks like a goddamn Roman Vomitorium.

After the sun went down, I went down to the pool and swam laps for an hour. I haven’t exercised for a couple of weeks and I was surprised how relatively effortless it was. I feel clean, and the endorphins are kicking in. My conscience is clear and tonight, after watching the monologue, I’ll sleep like a teenager.

Next month I turn 66. I probably have at least 10 years left in me, maybe 20. On the other hand, I might not wake up tomorrow morning. And you know what? I really don’t care. My bills are paid and my ass is insured. I don’t owe anybody anything.

Life is good.
