Detroit to spend hundreds of millions on sports arena

I don’t know what the hell business cities (i.e. taxpayers) have subsidizing sports arenas. I see it all the time. The proponents say “it’ll make loads of money!” Well, then it should be a damn good deal for private investors, shouldn’t it? Either both of those things are true, or they both aren’t.
