Now, can they say the gun shot the person, or the person shot the person? Of course, it was the person. However, making the right-wing look ridiculous because they are ridiculous isn't a deterence at all. I'm convinced they thrive on being hypocrites. As a gun owner, I realize there is a finite possibility I will hurt myself or some innocent with it. I have made the judgement that I am more likely to use it to deliberately protect myself than to accidently hurt an innocent. But I also recognize that is strictly a statistical judgement, not a guarantee. A lot of other people have made that same calculation and been proven wrong. With enough of them out there, there will be accidents, no matter how carefully they are designed, or how well trained and conscientious the users.
