So I drive less than 3,000 miles/year due to working at home and living where I can walk to the basics. Use about 100 gallons/year with the present Subaru, divide by the smaller gas tank, divide by triple the mileage and multiply the price by two…so I’d pay about $400/year to own one of these things? Sign me up Scotty!

Not looking good Safety performance specs are computer simulations. So are mileage estimates with an engine that hasn't been built yet. And a bizarre financing option.

A 1977 KZ1000 (same displacement) had 85hp and weighed 529 lbs. It would easily climb the North Cascades Highway at 150mph, with rider and passenger.

Elio puts out 70hp and weighs less than 800 bls.

The early 90′s Geo Metro’s put out 55hp. My brother had one and when we’d go over a pass he had to continually shift between 4th and 5th.
The metro was a slug but it weighed around 1600 lbs.

My guess is the Elio will do okay.
