¿Que pasa, Garth? August 21, 2013 1:08 pm ER

Am I just being paranoid?

While putting together a post involving a video by country artist Garth Brooks, I had to log on to the video several times. Each time it was preceded by a commercial, as is becoming the case more and more often these days.

The first time, was a standard commercial, some household product, but the last few times the commercial message was in Spanish. I don’t have a history of watching C&W videos on the net, and most Latins don’t have a taste for country music either.

How did they know it was worth sending me a Spanish language commercial? Is it possible they have somehow linked my IP address to my Hispanic-sounding surname?

I don’t mind if the Puzzle Palace reads my mail in an effort to protect me from terrorists, but I really resent being on somebody’s database so they can sell me fabric softener,
