No one seemed to mind, and those who pointed it out were dismissed as Cassandras. Now, government spies use that same technology to track our individual behavior, for any purpose they want. The distinction between collective and individual rights is hazy, constantly shifting, and often arbitrary. If we're not all free all the time, then none of us is, ever.
