I am not sure how I feel about the chimps being sent to space. Do the electric shock they received reach the point of torture or are they simply mildly unpleasant? I have assumed that aversion training does not require torturous shocks. It also seems that any aversion training should have been pre-flight and no more than one or two mild reminders should be required in flight. I would like to know more from those who did it vs those who reported it. As for sending them in the first place since they intended to return them alive, I can only say I am glad not to make those decisions and I am glad we have moved past this. left to me any progress we have made dependent on this would still be undiscovered.
