Star Trek’s original series was spellbinding, as well as groundbreaking.

Next Gen was a nice surprise, with a lot more detail, fewer parables, more blow-’em-up action, sweet, as well as quirky humor.

9 had the hometown appeal, sort of a Mayberry in space. Occasionally, we would have Next Gen’s Enterprise docking at 9, and even sending an away team back to the “The Trouble with Tribbles” in the original series.

Voyager stretched the boundaries.

Enterprise showed us the beginning for our ongoing mission.

Andromeda was supposed to be from an idea of Gene’s, as to the eventual all-knowing starship.

The newer shows, with their shallow attempts, leave me wanting. It seems they all want the magic, but fall short, missing the shaded point of the target. Star Trek is supposed to pique your interest, not simply spark you humor with lame comedic attempts and blow your mind with star-system-wide explosions. We need much more than this. What we need are the repercussions to earlier events. “The Motion Picture,” “The Wrath of Kahn,” “Search for Spock,” or the best, with “The Undiscovered Country,” which lays the groundwork for Next Gen and Deep Space 9.

All way cool stuff!
