The science is as impeccable as it gets for fiction. They name the virus, describe how it mutated and how it uses the brain cortex to animate the dead body to spread the virus.

He owns the WWZ property and part of his motivation for making the film was to do an action flick that would appeal to his sons as well as the general public.

I also liked the lack of gore and the movie in general. I did not care for the sprinting zombies. This was a total break from the book and did not enhance the story in my opinion.

I got online, gave Dish my credit card info and bam! WWZ is on my TV- in my living room.

(Sorry, but for someone who grew up before personal computers, this never ceases to blow me away.)

It was surprizingly good, not great but good. Well acted and plenty of suspense. Top notch computer graphics made for believable scenes that were visually pleasing. What struck me as odd was the lack of gore. I actually wondered if we got an edited version but then I looked up the rating and found it was PG-13.

The absence of gore was refreshing. Z had to rely on acting and story and not on metal implements shredding flesh and crushing bone.

Funny, the website where I found the rating had a pole and 75% of the people wished it had been R-rated. In my 20's I probably would have voted that way. Today I'd rather be subjected to true suspense without being grossed-out.

I'm of the "Last Man on Earth" and "Omega Man" catagory. Equally far-fetched scenario's, but with enough science edge to pique my interest. Now, a spoof will generally get my attention, like "Shawn of the Dead" and "Bad Taste."

A couple of zombie flicks worth watching are, Autumn, which is pretty good and The Dead, which is an excellent Brit film about an American soldier surviving a zombie outbreak in East Africa. Zombies immersed in today's African culture. It was wonderful, even if you don't care for zombies.

I really enjoyed reading that. Intelligent, entertaining and informative. The Zombie universe will get a little more respect from me from now on.

I even have my zombie preferences. They must be shamblers, no sprinters please. They must be zero intelligent. No door openers, tool users, or ladder climbers and no learners. No magic allowed. Everything must be as scientific as possible for a story based on walking corpses. I have seen some excellent theories that don't strain your disbelief too far.

The horror lies in the tireless, relentless way they multiply and are driven to consume humanity and spread the disease. They are a joke in small numbers but a horror in herds of millions.

The TV show The Walking Dead is the most popular show on TV according to some sources, and the recent Brad Pitt flick, World War Z, was a blockbuster hit adaptation of the book of the same name. A couple of sequels are planned for the franchise.

The CDC has published an online guide titled How to survive in a zombie apocalypse. The reason being that the advice applies to any natural disaster.

Romero started it all with Night of the living dead, and he has had a lot of message in his flicks along the lines of we deserve to destroy ourselves. To his chagrin nobody much picked up his message. It is a fad that may or may not have peaked but it will surely fade away at some point. I am fan of dystopian fiction and zombies are a neat addition to end of the world plots.

A few zombie FANatics are convinced that we will eventually concoct some virus related to rabies that will create a zombie apocalypse similar to the 28 Days Later movie virus and end civilization. Many others believe that the zombies are just symbolic of the inevitable breakdown of society
