Finally passing a budget under the gun one time in 4 years doesn't change their history of inaction.

<p>The stock market has been nuts for quite a while now.</p>

A fart in the wrong place can send the market gyrating all over the place.

If I were in my 30s and had a lot of stock, I'd probably hold it, but it wouldn't be all of my portfolio. If you're in your 60s, I'd be diversifying away from large percentages of stock. Now's a good time with the market at a pinnacle. I held all my stock clear through the crash, and didn't sell anything until it was above the 14,000 mark. Didn't lose a nickel.

The trick is not to panic when everyone else is.

Only an idiot of any age would be buying large amounts of stock right now.

<p>"Graciously conceding." Is that how you remember it?</p>

Whatever. We're only talking about re-elections here, because the point you were making was based on voter endorsement of continued presidential policies.

And the electoral vote was disputed, to put it as charitably as possible. Al Gore avoided a constitutional crisis by graciously conceding and not insisting on pursuing a technicality.

Who was saying "We won, so shut up.", then?

You're a fraud, Tom. Spare us the crocodile tears, we know you too well to join your pity party.

It's not about what people "like." It's about the math.

I think you're putting a remarkable weight on an election victory that was only 1.4 percent larger than Bush's in 2004. (Obama won by about 5 million votes, Bush by 3 million.)

I didn't see a lot of Democrats dropping to their knees in 2005 saying, "well, Bush won. I guess that's that. We have to deal with it."

I recall four solid years of trying to rip Bush's throat out, particularly when the Democrats got Congress back.

Remember when Democrats tried tacking Iraq defunding onto continuing funding resolutions?

Hell, Reagan won re-election by almost 17 million votes, and the Democrats still spent four years waging total war on him.

Next time the shoe is on the other foot, I expect liberal views on political minorities to change radically. Again.
