		<description>It&#039;s a two volume compilation, loaded with historical facts, personal insights (from both Herbert and his son George).

First written in 1918 - 1919, it was revised in 1949 to cover the many advances.  My copy is a 1000+ page 1971 reprint from the Doubleday presses.

A fascinating read that could have been used as a school text book, possibly even a teacher&#039;s aid and reference book.
