People in this discussion seem to forget that we already have a $400 billion program to give medical care to the poor.

By the way, the statistics don’t tell us how many of that 15 percent of uninsured ER users are going to the ER for something that would have been an emergency even for an insured person.

Maybe there’s a reason that half of ERs charge a fee up front.
