...because there were emergency rooms and laws to make their availability mandatory. I never gave it much credence though.

In short, you got nothing except "siddown and shut the f**k up!"

Which, when you think about it, is pretty much all the Democrats in government have as far as intellectual ammunition goes.

My objection is to you insisting on monopolizing the conversation to only what you want to talk about.

Believe me, I would object to bad manners from a liberal just as loudly.

You just don't seem to get it, Tom. We already know what you think. Your repeating it ad nauseam isn't going to change anybody's mind, and it certainly isn't going to change national policy. Give it a rest. It sounds like you're really trying to convince yourself, and that is really embarassing to have to watch.

However, if you insist on climbing on the soapbox, you can't expect us to politely oblige you with the validating debate you crave every time you want it. You're just going to have to put up with the occasional rotten tomato.

Specific enough for you?

Their lawns don't grow.

But in spite of all that, at least you don't have to make an appointment with an ER a month ahead of time. And they're open weekends and holidays.

Don't worry about TB. He's doing his Little Dutch Boy at the Dike routine. Pre-emptively trying to defuse anything that could possibly be used against him. As if he or we had could do anything about it except bitch.

Probably Medicaid.

People in this discussion seem to forget that we already have a $400 billion program to give medical care to the poor.

By the way, the statistics don't tell us how many of that 15 percent of uninsured ER users are going to the ER for something that would have been an emergency even for an insured person.

other than they were making a huge loss for their hospitals.
What was it?

Maybe there's a reason that half of ERs charge a fee up front.

wonder what it could be?
