They were edgy but nothing compared to the slice and slash media today. I tend to doubt that media creates monsters that wouldn't have been otherwise, but I could be totally wrong. Best for me to stand and watch with my opinion being nothing more than just that. I am not an anime fan and I am unfamiliar with Gantz. I tend to doubt that media creates monsters that wouldn’t have been otherwise, but I could be totally wrong. Best for me to stand and watch with my opinion being nothing more than just that.

I am not an anime fan and I am unfamiliar with Gantz. It is hard for me to imagine the anime style molding anyone’s personality.

And the consumers don't raise an eyebrow, either. Now I hate being preached to, when I'm trying to be amused. So I do not recommend that the Christian Family Council start writing comics and cartoons and video games. On the other hand, you could make a case that the media I described above is preaching a bit too. I really don't think they portrayed a nihilistic society in those golden age/silver age comics. I enjoyed them as a kid, and occasionally I read a contemporary "graphic novel" and enjoy it too. The art is excellent, and the stories are mythic, stylized (not that there's anything wrong with that, so is Homer). But I just never developed the intense attraction for them so many people seem to have. And watching movies derived from comix seems to short-circuit the whole point of the art form, what makes them unique in the first place: the graphic communication and verbal economy of the medium.
