I got rid of the hooks that held the fork rod. Intead I'm going to use 3- 1" plates with 1 1/4" holes across the top piece of channel. I bought some new 1 1/4" chrome-moly pin stock to replace the old fork bar which was bent. This will be faster to make and solves a few problems as well. KISS.

I built a mock up with 2x4's and made my mistakes on 'it' instead of the steel.
Sure is nice taking dims right off the drawing.

note the extra weld on the interior angle... also, are those additional side plates welded on to enhance the joint? Why not? Seems like all the stress gets focused there.

Actually I've used Sketchup for a few years now. Designed my observatory with it.

The bucket and thumb are on hold right now. Especially since I lost the measurements. Haven't had time to look at it.

I think your right about the braces. There's a bit of gusseting too I didn't bother draw I based the design on this one as well as others:<img src="http://i21.geccdn.net/site/images/large/251357.jpg" alt="" />

Looks as if you learn easily and well.

How did the re-articulating of that bucket come out?

I can kinda figure it, but would love to see it in context. Is there a model of your loader in the online warehouse?

Would like to see where the load is applied, and if a diagonal brace between those I-beams couldn't hurt?
