Meant nothing to me at the time, and then I had a Shakespearean actor as an English teacher in high school. He would use me as a foil while he acted out parts (I had to sit in front) and came to appreciate some of the universality and common human elements. Shakespeare's wisdom was incredible. That teacher opened a lifetime of enjoyment for me, for which I've been grateful ever since. Even wrote him a letter thanking him years ago. As a kid my mother dragged me to a few Shakespearean plays. Meant nothing to me at the time, and then I had a Shakespearean actor as an English teacher in high school.
