These are extremists. They are broken people, and there’s really no way to fix them, short of electro- and cultural-shock therapy. The real danger is that they may form into viable groups and subcultures — or rather that they have.

Freedom of speech.
Freedom of religion.
Freedom of belief.
Freedom.

These do I hold true.

Not a whole lot can be done with wacko charlatans, other than ignoring them and hoping for the best. It’s a tent-show. Something you’d find along the midway of a wandering Chautauqua, designed to sensationalize a non-entity subject, purely for profit. Upon occasion, a mighty hero of reason must be brought forth to stand our ground for us. In this example, it just happens to be the mighty Bill Nye, the Science Guy. Do not look upon his attempts as a failure in any way, for he stands as our right hand. The failure would have to be the event’s limited coverage. The more kids we can get to realize who the true fringe knut-cases are, the fewer develop into them.

Welcome to America.

BTW. I have a few brass wing nuts that I like to hand to fools, as an award.

Which is why I haven’t bothered watching it yet. You know, if someone wants to beleive in god or Santa or little green invaders–and to let that belief guide them in important life decisions–so be it. I find myself right on the verge of simply not caring anymore.

I have many relatives that believe this crap but they prefer not to discuss it and I certainly avoid the subject. They are decent people who have been hoodwinked.

It is the outspoken proponents of this garbage that need to be processed for the good of humanity.

The average Christian would probably welcome an approach to evolution that is not so contentious.

It’s like debating anthropromorphic global warming or tax cuts for the wealthy generating jobs – it just gives the wingnuts some credibility. There are issues which belong on “Mysteries of the Multiverse”, not even on “Science Fiction” and allowing them anywhere else implies they have a grain of truth, that there is some basis for debate.

There isn’t, and to even acknowledge them is folly, like saying the Earth might be flat, or Man didn’t go to the Moon.

No matter what happens, Nye is being used and no one will change their mind.

Ken Ham’s about halfway through his presentation. Pure and utter gibberish. Dishonest attempt to redefine science, some novel distinction between “historical” and “observational” science. He’s a raving loon.

I can’t take it. I’ve shut it down. Not even Hercules could sweep that mountain of horsehit from the stable. Nye is wasting his time.
