No, the source of all evil is just decent men trying to do their jobs as best they can. It sets into motion events and processes that the actors are not really aware of are at work. We don’t need conspiracies to explain history, just Brownian Motion and an occasional nudge, perhaps even an inadvertent one, here and there at some critical pivot point, usually by someone who is totally unaware of the reasons–or consequences–of his actions.
