There have been a few exceptions in history, as far back as Madison, but none who actually sought the presidency itself.

Once we do get the first first gentleman out of the way, though, the next hurdle will likely be the first woman president presiding over a first woman VP.

Interesting stuff to come.

Hillary not only has her own baggage, which conservatives have pretty well dug up, but also has to carry all of Bill's. As I recall, Geraldine Ferraro, the Dem VP candidate in 1984, was tarred with allegations her developer husband had played a bit close to the line.

I don't recall any male candidates being held responsible for the transgressions of his wife. I'm absolutely sure it's happened, but I sure don't recall.

Hillary may have some serious problems trying to avoid having Bill's record tied to her tail.

Actually, you are spot on target.

I personally think Hillary is too old to run, but without her Obamacare is toast, the safety net goes down the toilet, and the oligarchy gets a huge tax cut.

She needs a good Veep, like Liz Warren.

Red wine and fish? How about a Moon-Pie and an RC Cola?

If so, Clinton would almost have to run, if only to keep Obama-care alive. With already known health concerns, she may not be physically able to handle a full term, let alone 2. Being prez is a grueling job, particularly for a first woman prez.

I think she'll be needing a serious trainer and a hearty greens diet.

Maybe a good salmon diet, with spinach and broccoli, Brussels sprouts, whole-grain pasta.

A nice red wine to finish out the day.

Oops. I think I'm on the wrong page...

is that Clinton seems a shoe-in now, but a lot can happen between now and then. If she doesn't run, for whatever reason, the Dems have no credible substitute for her. Bush could easily move to the White House, PROVIDING he can get past the Republican primary process. Who knows what beast is slouching toward Bethlehem?

At least, we don't have to worry about Ted Cruz becoming President.
He's Cuban-Canadian. We've already seen his birth certificate.

Do conservatives really want to make dead Americans a central issue in 2016? Not sure that'd work well for them. Let's talk about a pointless, illegal, illegitimate war in Iraq and thousands of Americans dead. Let's talk about how a Republican administration methodically and deliberately lied to it's citizens in order to start that war.

Just sayin'.

If the Republican candidate needs the Tea Party imprimatur to be nominated that may force that person so far right it would turn the stomachs of many people.

Hopefully a Bush by the same name is still a Bush. Just because he's not as bad as his brother doesn't mean he's good.

The Supreme Court's decision that unlimited money can be raised means that the Republicans can promise to sell the country on an unprecedented scale and money buys elections. I don't think there is any real question that the next president will be Republican. They got Bush into office a couple of times and Sarah Palin has a strong following. Imagine that - Sarah Palin.

and if Obama's popularity remains below 30% he would probably beat Hillary.

She will be mercilessly hammered with Bengazi and a huge majority are pissed about that situation. It could be as bad as Bush-Dukakis. More than half the votes Hillary gets will be only because she is a Democrat and a lot of Dems could stay home.

Alright, who's been playing with the WayBack machine?

I'm not sure I like that race. If the question becomes "Who do you mistrust less?" it could lead to Prez Bush III.
