He always had a 3-day growth. Never clean-shaven, never longer. Don't know how he did it.

My uncle had a flat top, and I can recall that, whenever he stopped by, my 11-year-old *elder* brother and I would take off for the bathroom to "groom" ourselves for the meeting. He got a kick out of it.

That pink flat top stuff was Butch Wax. I loved that stuff. My hair is very fine and that was the only thing that would sort of hold my hair in the popular styles.

I graduated from flat top to long duck tails that was an Elvis look before Elvis.

I have cut my hair progressively shorter as I aged. I wore it abot 2" for years then went to 1", 1/2", until I settled on 1/8" 2-3 years ago. I tried shaving my hair once but that is a major pain in the ass. Beats me how those who do it can stand the bother.

in New York and points NE for a good while. I never understood it. It just doesn't look deliberate. The first time I saw it back in the 90s it was 2 New Yorkers that I assumed had had a big night and didn't have time to shave. The next day it was the same and I realized it was a very silly fashion statement.

I have noticed some of the Hollywood wanabees sporting slick back mob style. The spikes have been around for a long time for rockers but now it seems fashionable to look like your hair hasn't been combed in a week or so. They pay big bucks for those hair cuts.

I'll just keep clipping mine to a clean 1/8th inch about once a month.
