Metal Hurlant Chronicles April 18, 2014 2:22 pm FrankC

This is a new scifi anthology series on the SyFy channel, on Mondays. Consists of 2 separate half hour episodes.

If you can handle a bit of kungfu in every episode it is pretty entertaining.

Reminds me a lot of the old Astounding mag short stories. It’s not Twilight Zone or Outer Limits but it’s not so bad.

One of Monday’s episodes was a group of soldiers attempting to transport a child to a device that would create a super being to fight the mutant monsters that are wiping out humans. Adult humans can’t survive the transformation so they need to get the kid (and his pet rabbit) to the machine.

One by one the soldiers are killed by the mutants until only the child (and his rabbit) remain at the door of the conversion device. The mutant leader laughs hysterically and tells the child that the humans have lost and there would be no super hero to save them. The child smiles and says “you thought I was to be the super being, I am only his trainer”. The pet rabbit has hopped into the conversion machine and emerges as a 20 ft tall being that starts stomping the mutants. The story ends with the kid riding off on the monstrous bunny to wipe out the mutants.
