Do you think this will have any effect on the spam? I would still like to open up registration again (with approval or invitation?) and open up at least the space board to non-registered comments. But without the spam. I still find it interesting that before registration we had little problem with spam – maybe it was just a simpler time back then.

I’ll switch servers in the next couple of days. The result will look indistinguishable from the current setup, with just https://www.habitablezone.net encrypted.

The new server is high-grade-encryption ready, but it’ll take a week or two before I’m able to switch everything to https–I’m waiting for a letter from Israel, with a secret code I email back to a certificate company there, so they can verify my identity. Then I’ll be able to create the digital certs I need and install ‘em into the waiting sockets.

Then, anybody trying to snoop on the Zone will read only gibberish. Admittedly not a huge qualitative change, but it’ll be much higher quality gibberish.

I didn’t try to change anything, didn’t flip any breakers, just looked in the panels, and everything seemed right. Used IE and Chrome, same result.

All the boards seem to work.

While the dashboard comes up, I can’t use it.
