When I was first getting chemo and before my port they jabbed me 5 painful times without hitting the vein.

"I'm done! No more!" And I was.

10 times, Frank, is patience beyond all reason. I hate the process in the first place. No one besides this kid has tried more than twice before getting someone else.

And the port is superb.

reminds me of a similar event over 30 years ago.

I had a minor heart attack when I was 41. I was in intensive care for a few days and 2 student nurses came in and wanted to start a new IV. They start working on me and after about 10 painful tries, I had had enough and suggested they get an RN to do it. They seemed reluctant to do that and tried a couple of more times.

I got pissed and made it abundantly clear that they were not going to stick me again. They went off in a huff and a few minutes later an RN came in and took care of it in 1 try.

The difference being you had a young trainee who wanted to learn and offered to get the nurse after one miss. I had a couple of arrogant little twits who acted like they knew everything.

I did not make their evening and they avoided me for the rest of my stay. They were both pretty little things but where were they when I needed my bath?
