but falling in love with an artificial intelligence doesn't seem unreasonable at all. After all, an intelligence or consciousness is what you love. Other attractants, such as physical beauty, can lose their luster quickly. We love our family because we are programmed by evolution to do so, but we love our friends because we love their thinking, and I believe machines will someday think, or at least, be able to simulate thought.

The fact that the intelligence is not human seems almost irrelevant. People fall in love with their cars, their boats, their houses, and their guns. They also love their country, and don't we love our pets? We also can still love those who have died. And didn't we all learn to hate HAL-9000? He not only wasn't human, he wasn't even a real computer.
