They say bad news comes in threes. But sometimes you see sets of events that somehow seem…connected, if not by cause, then in result.
Just think, in the past few months, we have seen the Missing Malaysian Airliner, the Korean Ferry Shipwreck, the Turkish Coal Mine Disaster, and we might even add the Kidnapping of the Nigerian Schoolgirls.
Sure, disasters, both natural and man-made, happen all the time. And there is frequent incompetence and malfeasance on the part of the authorities, government and corporate, all the time. Nothing new there.
But these cases all seem highly related, connected, highly reminiscent of one another. A disaster occurs under unexpected and mysterious circumstances, there is great loss of life, the survivors, outraged and frustrated, go on a rampage–a perfectly justified one. Have international social conditions changed, allowing these types of responses to be more likely, or more publicized? Or are we seeing the manifestation of s deeper underlying dynamic?
One gets the impression that under the surface of the timeline there are multiple intersecting wave trains interfering with one another, and occasionally you get a series of rogue waves that break through.
