All of them have been quite self aware, and didn’t give a rip about their appearance. However, they were aware of affection, guilt, and all emotions in between.

They used everything they had, mouth, head, ears, body, tail and feet to express themselves. Humans confuse an inability to talk and use language with ignorance. Too chauvanistic.

For example, rocket science. Von Braun was sanitized with the claim that he was interested in going to the Moon, and that Hitler perverted his rockets into bombing Britain.

Same technology, different purpose.

(The reality of von Braun is sordid. He was a Nazi who in their culture lived by their rules and adopted their goals, and in the US did the same thing. He worked developing ICBMs, designed to do to Russians what he had done to the Brits. He was not pure, and some people were shot for doing less than he. But were not rocket scientists.)

But you’re hardly the first to do so. It’s very popular with ufologists, for example. It serves no one well, however, and leads to the use of phrases like “it’s a pat hand,” which is an attempt to excuse an ignorant and incurious nature. Your earlier defense of science seems rather disingenuous now.
