Your post demonstrates one of the characteristic traits of the Right very well. It is that everything that happens is evidence of a conspiracy against them or an example of God seeking retribution from their enemies. Earthquakes, hurricanes, AIDS, all have been explained as God taking after their enemies.

Or, anything newsworthy has occurred to take attention and/or resources from one or more of their issues. All news is managed to minimize the right-wing agenda.

And next, they like to lose. They love being martyrs. They would rather sabotage a powerful Republican who could win to nominate a purist, and lose.

Even Teletubbies were perceived as a plot against their agenda. Crazier than fly-bitten lion. Nuts.

The economy IS improving, slowly and erratically, and not as much as we'd like, but improving nonetheless. The stock market and corporate profits, as well as executive salaries and bonuses are going through the roof. Salaries are stagnant, but unemployment stats are dropping, in both relative and absolute terms. And the long-predicted megainflation never materialized.

The Dow Jones industrial Average has roughly doubled over the last 5 years. The middle class may be barely treading water, but someone is making out like a bandit. I think we have reached a new "normal", the economy seems to have stabilized at a sustainable level. It will never be like the Nineties again, but the disaster of 2008 seems to be behind us.

The Republicans are hoping nobody's noticed, and the Dems haven't talked it up too much but probably will just before the election. Of course, no one can predict the future, but we tried in 2008 and we were wrong.
