1,000 mph land vehicle. June 18, 2014 3:40 pm bowser

http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-27699104

The citation has pictures of the cockpit and a mock-up of the completed vehicle.  I think this is amazing, and can’t help but wonder how they will manage to keep the wheels on the ground as it passes through the sound barrier.  And as the air pressures build up underneath it.  And as they lessen as air passes over it.

There are a lot of things I would do.  A one-way trip to Mars, heck, a one-way trip to the Moon.  Driving that thing is NOT one of them.  It looks to me as if the slightest, the very least, mistake in operating, steering it, or even something they overlooked in the design will result in being smeared all over the track.

Would love to watch it, though.

  • I'd like to see the Top Gear lads have a go with that :-) by mcfly 2014-06-19 06:12:23
