Civilians line the streets and balconies and hang out the windows, yelling and cheering. Many if not all are waving identical flags of the liberator, as well as passing out flowers. Did you ever wonder where they got those flags? Did they have them hidden, just waiting for liberation, thereby risking their lives, and their families lives? Nope. As you guessed they are passed out by PR people who went through the village in front of the liberating folks. All staged. And the Iraqi and Afghan military will never have the access to weapons, ammo, bombs, air power and so on the US has. If the US can't win, they can't. And it's proven impossible for Westerners to train these armies, anyway. In regards to "freedom", the Afghans perceive the Western occupation as what prevents them from being "free". The armies which are being "trained" are to protect a puppet regime, not allow the tribal areas their autonomy. They know "freedom", and it doesn't involve being occupied. The Vietnamese, the Iraqis, the Afghanis do not. They have never known freedom, and so have never learned the price. If freedom is truly desired, blood must be spilled. We do know this, but the same holds true for any revolution against tyranny. The Vietnamese, the Iraqis, the Afghanis do not. They have never known freedom, and so have never learned the price. If freedom is truly desired, blood must be spilled.

Relatively untrained, ill-equipped insurgents. Now those insurgents have beaten the US and its' allies. And yet the training is designed to create a local version of the US forces. The same forces which got beat. Didn't work in Vietnam, didn't work in Iraq, isn't working in Afghanistan. Even if the training "took", they would be sent into the field, and get beaten. When will we learn? We don't want to learn. We want to keep expending expensive munitions, and keep losing so we can keep expending munitions. Perpetual war. The capitalist's dream.
