Texas governors – masters of righteous indignation, wounded innocence.
Texas governor vows to fight charges

“The governor of the US state of Texas, Rick Perry, has vowed to fight an indictment against him for abuse of power, which he dismissed as a “farce”.
“It “amounts to nothing more than an abuse of power… I cannot and will not allow that to happen,” Mr Perry said.”
You have to respect the man – he is fighting to spare the people from abuse of official power, from corruption in public officials, and to clear his good name. One can’t help but be amazed by his determination to salvage his “good name”. He would not have ever, ever considered abuse of power. There is a line, and his moral standards would not have allowed him to cross that. Only the most evil would have even considered it possible. Outrageous.
This outrage is completely comical, and would only “fly” in Texas.
Apocryphal – I worked with a guy who traveled with his son and wife in a large camper.
“How was vacation, Harold?”
“Great. Kind of interesting. Was travelling some back roads, gravel, following a fishing stream when I came to a small town, just in time to fuel up. Told the attendant it was different to be in Texas all at once.”
“How do you know you’re in Texas – there’s no sign on that road.”
“Well, a few miles back my wife came into heat, my kid started picking his nose and I felt like stealing something. Had to be Texas. Back in Oklahoma the wife was praying for forgiveness, the kid was pulling the wings off flies and I was preaching at the both of them.”
