I'm totally onside with that. There will come a day, perhaps not all that far off, when they look back on our time, and at the things Obama has tried to do for Americans. And of those who fought the President tooth-and-nail every step of the way, they'll ask "What the hell was wrong with those primitives? "

The Republican strategy, ever since Obama was first elected, was to deliberately cause chaos, gridlock and desolation, which could then be blamed on him. This is no great discovery on my part, its exactly what they publicly said they were going to do. Its not that they are making stupid decisions, this is a plan and a strategy which they are too committed to now to back out of gracefully. The 2012 election didn't turn out for them the way they expected. Only a disaster on BHO's watch can possibly gain them the Presidency in 2016, perhaps never again. And their supremacy in local elections continues to erode as the nation becomes younger, browner, more urban, poorer, and better educated. This is why you can smell their fear. They are running out of Babbitts and Bunkers. We're all Bubbas on this bus now.

I've explained this before, but here's my take on it yet again. After the successful Clinton Presidency, Dubya was supposed to be the new Reagan; instead, he turned out to be the new Hoover. The sole Republican hope now is to try and make sure Obama doesn't become the new Roosevelt. I believe history will remember him as the new Lincoln.

Lincoln's presidency was a failure too, but he preserved the Union and he broke the back of the slavers.

Some thoughts...

Perhaps they've decided to accept that several states and many millions of Americans have decided to buy into the ACA, and continuing to oppose it just puts them more solidly on the unpopular side.

Or perhaps they've realized that instead of trying again and again and again to kill it, and failing again and again and again, they could have put all that energy into something that might have actually benefited the country.

Perhaps they're just tired of having their noses rubbed in their own crap.

Or they're simply moving on to the next phase of lunacy that will alienate them even further from mainstream America.

...it seems to almost work, but it'll need to keep up with Cisco, Courier, and Silicon Valley in general. It's been touted that the main problem with hooking up was that the states with problems had not bothered to setup their end of the system. My issue remains that we're talking about hundreds of databases being placed online for random access by the general public. On the face of it, this is a bad thing, but a bad thing which may turn good. Interfacing of this sort is what would be required for national background checks when purchasing a firearm.

See my "<strong><italics>Hence forth and ever more, let it be known across the land</italics></strong>" post in bowser's <a href="https://www.habitablezone.com/2014/08/19/the-second-amendment/" rel="nofollow"><strong>The Second Amendment</strong></a> thread below -- or above -- or -- somewhere...
