I've just finished watching a PBS documentary (American Masters) on the life and work of American photographer Dorothea Lange (1895-1965). They'll probably show it again, or it will be available online. Its about what we're talking about here. I highly recommend it.

Over-exposed and under-developed.

I've always felt the purpose of photography was to document reality accurately, not aesthetically. Do you want a dramatic, magazine-quality shot of a sporting event or fashion runway, take a 100 exposure motor drive and one of the shots will be an award-winner, even if your eyes were closed when you took it. In any field, journalism, action, landscape, portraiture, wildlife, architectural, still life, if you take enough pictures under varying conditions one of them will turn out to be spectacular.

I used to infuriate my artsy-fartsy photographer friends when I would tell them "Take any color snapshot negative, crop it, and print it on black and white stock, and it will look moody and mysterious."

Photography is much like life itself. There is a certain amount of practical skill required with the camera, and in the darkroom, but whether it is a great photograph or not is mostly a matter of trial and error.

You can't tell they're scared, and you certainly can't tell what they're scared of. They are beautiful portraits of interesting faces, works of art, character studies, and nothing more.

in the story and the pictures.
It proves that there are at least 8 people that have studied nature and observed changes in their field of study, and concluded that the changes can be attributed to the changes in the global environment; also, it proves that they are concerned about it.
Since the names are displayed under the pictures, it would be possible to verify their concerns directly by contacting them.

Quote: "The climate is related to many parts of the Earth; the land, the ocean, the ice, the atmosphere. We're noticing abrupt changes in all of these areas..."
Will Steffen
Earth System Scientist.

Perhaps the scientists are not observing, are not aware of, or for some reason, are ignoring the true source of the problem.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uranium

One kilogram of uranium-235 can theoretically produce about 20 terajoules of energy, and this is as much energy as 1500 tones of coal.

Then there is the waste material that will be radioactive for a very long time.

I agree that the ladies are attractive, and I suspect very informative in their field of study.
