I use the South as something of a symbol for the red culture intertwined with the blue throughout America (we all know that red “state” vs blue “state” is a coarse fiction), but you have to admit that conservative Americans everywhere are cultural soulmates to their Southern branch. Wouldn’t you be happier living in a place where conservative principles and values are guaranteed to always carry the day in the political process?

And that “150-year-long tantrum”? I think a century and a half of sending people like Jesse Helms to Washington to throw sand in the gears constitutes not just a “tantrum”, but perhaps an act of war. We’ll be happier separated, I tell you.

Not sure I am ready for the South to rise again. Now all the red states together, including Southern Cal, might make a nice country. At least we would have Lebensraum.

As I wrote in the thread on Scottish independence below, I’m open to seeing your “beloved” starz-n-barz fly again, with certain restrictions. Enough is enough. After a 150-year-long tantrum, we get the message: You guys hate America. So go. Don’t let the screendoor etc.

We aren’t NASCAR, we’re bumper cars. And we all come out pretty even, well, sort of. ER makes me look foolish, and in turn I make me look foolish, too. But no one gets hurt, usually, because our lances are made of rubber and we all have pretty good bumpers.

But rocking the boat is what it’s all about. And there’s none better than TB.
