I've had this phone for a little while now. So far I've been able to actually talk on it, read and reply to emails, message, watch YouTube, play games, and browse.

I did have to log in with a Google account, and managed that. So far I'm truly impressed. The sound is good even at high volume, the resolution is good.

The one thing I don't like even a little bit are the advertisements they manage to squeeze into MY machine. Truly irritating.

I'm sure you'll be happy with it. I had a Motorola a few years ago and it was a great phone.

There are plenty of websites (Motorola.com being one, of course) where you can find Android help, guides and tutorials. Google searches, as always, are a great way to find specific answers.

For me, one of the keys to getting along with Android is remembering that there's a difference between tapping something vs touching and holding (sometimes called a "long tap"). The latter will quite often bring up a context menu with further choices.

I hope you enjoy your new phone!

Rave reviews and relatively inexpensive ($180). I just hope I can learn to use it.

"Moto G is powered by Android™ 4.4, KitKat®. And with a guaranteed upgrade*, know you are up to date with the best Android experience.

"*The device will receive at least one software update to the current KitKat 4.4.X operating system."

I'm not worried about the warranty as much as I am about the support. I suspect I'll need help in setting up things.

I'd like, I think, the android, second generation Moto G. Big screen, etc. Compatible with Straight Talk, not available for another month or so. I love the idea of being able to tether them, no data card necessary as well as the stuff I'll never use - GPS and electronic compass, for instance. The flashlight on my current phone has come in surprisingly handy when I remember to use it.

Anyway, I think I'll try to get my Samsung Tablet to work before I do anything else rash. I feel like an old guy watching a bunch of gymnasts and thinking "I could do that". I watch my friends with their phones and think "I could do that, take pictures, email, etc." I can't. Yet.

Nexus devices usually run a pure version of Android, a situation that has its pros and cons. "Off-the-shelf" Android is still a *really* good system, but some manufacturers (I currently have a Samsung) have added a few attractive bells 'n' whistles to their version of Android. This is good if you like the additions, less so if you don't. But it also means that you might have to wait longer for the release of a modified version of Android. The Nexus update would come from Google, while I'd expect the Motorola update would come from that company.

Both my wife and son have benefitted from having a warrenty--I, otoh, have never had to return or exchange a phone, but I can certainly see the value.
