Afghanistan November 1, 2014 8:25 pm bowser

The US and British are pulling out, leaving the Afghans to their fate.  There is a “democratically elected” President in Kabul, a bunch of military facilities and some roads being left behind.  Otherwise the treasure spent and lives lost are a total waste.

The troops we trained shoot us.  The policemen we equipped and paid shoot us.  The nation is as corrupt as ever, vastly more opium poppies are now being grown.

The government controls Kabul, the capital, and nothing else.  The Taliban runs loose.

I told you so.  Afghanistan is a special condition, not a nation in the conventional sense, and hasn’t been converted into a nation by any outside force yet.  And won’t be.

I told you so.  I really did.
