Battlestar Galactica Jumped the Shark September 12, 2015 12:25 pm ER

It asked all the right questions, but in the end, only came up with the same old answers. The show had good performances, a great script, and terrific production values, and it was thoroughly entertaining. But I didn’t learn anything that I didn’t already know.

I watched the boxed set, with the “extended versions” of several episodes, so I may not have seen the same carbine versions others saw on TV broadcasts. They were also included in the set, but I don’t think I’ll bother viewing them. “Razor” and “The Plan” were also included, and I dutifully watched them as well, but the final result left me unsatisfied. Galactica posed important questions, but either failed to find the answers, or it just lacked the courage to try.

Incidentally, a few years ago I also watched the prequel, “Caprica”. Again, well produced and thoroughly entertaining and I also recommend it–with reservations. I got the impression that they ran out of funding or ratings and couldn’t film another season, so they wrapped it up hastily and prematurely.

Still, they’re worth watching, if for no other reason than those Canadian babes.
