Dyer is considered something of a national treasure in Canada. I'd never heard of him before the original broadcast of War. He's actually become an environmental activist since then and is known now for his lectures on climate change as well as history.

I just finished watching the rest of the series on YouTube.

I had forgotten how really good this was. Even with the vastly different international situation today, it holds up extremely well. Do yourself a favor and watch it.

I had forgotten how really good this is. Those of you have never seen this really owe it to yourself to see at least the first hour.

It is a terrific analytical study, although the geopolitical aspect is outdated now. Its still worth watching though, not for its Cold War references, but its anthropological insight.

My own thinking was very much influenced by it. As I recall, I was a cold warrior myself at the time, a Silicon Valley spook.

I didn't realize it was on Youtube. I highly recommend it, if you've got the time to sit through all of it..
