I’m bemused to report that because tonight’s debate, whose theme is the economy, is on a premium cable financial channel, CNBC, favored by politically conservative financiers, it’s not available to the likes of us.

Yes, you have to pay to watch the Republicans debate how to dispose of our economic futures. I’m a fan of irony like this.

Also of the surely ironic suggestion I read somewhere this morning that we should all take advantage of the 7-day free trial of CNBC Pro, the normally $300/year subscription service that includes live streaming. And by “take advantage of”, I think the writer was foreshadowing his suggestion to cancel shortly after the end of the broadcast of what should forevermore be known as the 2015 Fat Cat Debate. That would be so wrong, yet so just. I’m torn…
