It’s weird, a product perhaps of my growing up with network TV, that I’m more inclined to re-watch a movie if it is on the cable, than it is to go pick it off the shelf o’ DVD’s and watch it. Is that just being lazy? Or am I programmed for programming?

And I didn’t care for the Highlander concept.

But I agree with you about the Schwarzenegger flicks, particularly the Terminator and Conan franchises, great stuff. And the first “Predator” film was a masterpiece of suspense, a great script with some great performances by everyone involved. I expected crap, and got a very pleasant surprise.

And I’m glad someone mentioned Rocky Horror. Its not one of my all-time favorites, but it is thoroughly enjoyable.

Day of the Dcotor.
Not strictly a movie but it was movie length and was the finest piece of TV the BBC has produced, so there.

I love Miyazaki’s work as well. Spirited Away is one of the most wonderfully magical movies ever made, imho.

But “Airplane” was indeed a masterpiece.

A thread very similar to this one appeared some time ago on the Zone. I don’t recall which films I picked then, but I’d be willing to bet very few of the ones we listed as our favorites appeared on that list as well as this one. There are so many really good pictures. You can’t remember them all, and unlike some other 20th century art forms, motion pictures are really, really good.

Oh, Oh, I forgot “Tom Jones”. Oh, Oh, “Moby Dick”. Oh, Oh, “Divorce, Italian Style”. Oh, oh…
